The Dubai Department of Tourism of Commerce Marketing (DTCM) took its energetic marketing and promotional drive in Europe, the emirate’s traditionally-strong source market over the years, and successfully reached out to the promising Spanish market through the 2010 edition of FITUR, the Spanish International Travel and Tourism Fair, held in Madrid.

The Dubai Stand had 15 co-participants, including Emirates Airlines, an increase of three compared with the previous edition. The 30th edition of the leading travel show was held from 20 - 24 January.

Abdullah bin Suwaidan, DTCM Deputy Director of Overseas Promotions and Inward Missions, said, “Participation in this major tourism fair was very fruitful since Spain is a key market for us with great growth potential. This was our 17th year of participation in FITUR and that speaks volumes about the importance we attached to this market.” He presented a souvenir to His Highness King Juan Carlos I of Spain and his wife when they visited the Dubai Stand at the fair
